Ex-Goa MLA Collapses, Dies After Attack by Auto Driver in Belagavi

Former Goa MLA and Congress leader Lavoo Mamlatdar (68) collapsed and died on Saturday after being assaulted by an auto driver in Belagavi, Karnataka. The incident occurred following an argument over an accident. CCTV footage showed the auto driver hitting Mamlatdar multiple times. Shortly after, he collapsed on a hotel staircase and was declared dead at a hospital.
Mamlatdar, a former Deputy Superintendent of Police, served as an MGP MLA (2012-2017) before joining Congress in 2022. Belagavi police have arrested the accused auto driver.
