Washington. DC: Following discussions between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump, both nations reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening energy security and expanding trade in oil, gas, and nuclear energy, according to India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The leaders recognized energy security as a key driver of economic growth and technological progress, emphasizing collaboration to ensure stable, affordable, and reliable energy markets.

The U.S. reaffirmed its support for India's full membership in the International Energy Agency and emphasized the role of strategic petroleum reserves in stabilizing economies during crises. The leaders also underscored the importance of boosting hydrocarbon production to maintain reasonable global energy prices.

Both nations committed to increasing energy trade, with the U.S. emerging as a major supplier of crude oil, LNG, and petroleum products to India. They agreed to enhance investments in oil and gas infrastructure and strengthen partnerships between energy companies.

On nuclear energy, the leaders pledged to advance the US-India 123 Civil Nuclear Agreement by supporting the construction of U.S.-designed reactors in India. They welcomed proposed amendments to India's nuclear liability laws, which would facilitate joint reactor development, including advanced small modular reactors.
