Hubballi Encounter Case
Hubballi: Officials from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Tuesday visited Hubballi to investigate the circumstances surrounding the recent encounter death of a man accused of the attempted rape and murder of a young girl.
A three-member CID team, led by Superintendent of Police Venkatesh visited KMC-RI where the accused dead body was kept in a mortuary. According to the sources they gathered information and sought details about the encounter incident from local officials present at the scene.
Patna resident Ritish Kumar who on April 13 allegedly lured a young girl living in the Vijayanagar area with the promise of buying her snacks. And allegedly attempted to sexually assault her before murdering the child and fleeing.
Following the horrific incident, police registered a case. Using CCTV footage as crucial evidence, they managed to identify and apprehend Kumar. Police state that during subsequent questioning, the accused allegedly assaulted officers and made an attempt to escape custody. This prompted the police to open fire, resulting in Kumar's death.
The CID team comprised DySP Puneet Kumar, Inspector Manjunath, said sources.
