KMCRI: Senior MBBS Students Accused of Forcing Juniors to Give Proxy Attendance

Daily Mail 24 News Desk.

Hubballi: A serious incident has surfaced, raising concerns that it could be a case of ragging. Allegedly, a few senior MBBS students at KMCRI forced some first-year MBBS students to attend a surgery theory class on their behalf and give proxy attendance.

According to sources at KIMS, the students were caught red-handed while attending the surgery theory class in anatomy lecture hall between 3 pm to 4 pm under false pretenses. Sources said that the teacher became suspicious of some attendees, and upon further inquiry, the students admitted to the act.

Some doctors have strongly condemned the incident, stating that it amounts to ragging—questioning why a first-year MBBS student would attend a senior class otherwise. Others have pointed out that similar incidents have occurred in the past, making this a recurring issue that needs strict intervention.

KMCRI Director Dr. S. F. Kammar acknowledged the incident and stated that he has taken the matter seriously, instructing the principal to take strict action against those responsible.

Principal Dr. Gurushantappa Yalagacchin stated that he was in a meeting and would get back to us regarding whether the incident occurred. He added that such incidents are uncommon, but the matter will be investigated, and the findings will be communicated accordingly.
