Many regions across the State, which have been experiencing sweltering heat and humidity in recent days, are likely to get some relief with the arrival of pre-monsoon showers this week.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), scattered rainfall is expected over south-interior and coastal Karnataka on March 11 and 12, bringing temporary respite from the soaring temperatures.
The forecast suggests that isolated light rain and thundershowers may occur in districts such as Kolar, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapur, Tumakuru, Ramanagara, Mandya, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, and Hassan in south-interior Karnataka, along with Dakshina Kannada and Udupi in coastal Karnataka on March 11. By March 12, Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru are also expected to experience similar weather conditions.
On Sunday, the IMD recorded maximum temperatures of 34.5°C at Bengaluru city and Kempegowda International Airport stations, while the HAL airport station registered 34.1°C. Minimum temperatures stood at 19.7°C, 18.5°C, and 18°C, respectively, across these locations.
For Bengaluru, the weather forecast indicates that the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 34°C and 20°C over the coming days.
The highest temperature ever recorded in the city for March was 37.3°C, which occurred in 1996.
