Bengaluru: After days of sweltering heat, Bengaluru finally experienced its first summer rain, offering a refreshing break to its residents. The showers that began this evening significantly cooled the city, bringing down the temperature.
By 6 PM, several areas, including Shantinagar, Corporation, Richmond Circle, K.R. Market, and Majestic, received rainfall. Strong winds caused cloud movement, with rain clouds drifting from Northeast Bengaluru towards the South, leading to showers in Halasuru, Indiranagar, Banashankari, and Jayanagar.
According to meteorological reports, light rainfall was recorded in HAL, Marathahalli, Whitefield, Lalbagh, and Richmond Circle, while Avalahalli saw 2mm of rain.
Temperature Drop Brings Relief
The rain had an immediate impact on Bengaluru's temperature, which dropped from 27°C in the afternoon to 24°C in the evening. This unexpected summer drizzle provided much-needed respite from the scorching heat, making the city’s weather more pleasant.
Rainfall to Continue Until March 14
Weather experts had predicted a rise in temperatures across Karnataka, but pre-monsoon showers are expected to provide relief in several regions.
With pre-monsoon activity expected to strengthen from March 10, rainfall is likely to persist until March 14. Heavy showers are anticipated in parts of the coastal and southern interior regions, including Bengaluru, Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Ramanagara, Mandya, Mysuru, and Chamarajanagar.
