Delhi’s Next Chief Minister to Be Announced Today, Swearing-In Tomorrow 

New Delhi: The suspense over who will be Delhi’s next Chief Minister is set to end today, February 19, with the official announcement expected soon. The new CM, along with the cabinet ministers, will take the oath at Ramlila Maidan on February 20. 

Initially scheduled for 4:30 PM, the swearing-in ceremony has now been shifted to 11:00 AM. Given the significance of the event, security has been ramped up—over 5,000 personnel, including 10+ companies of paramilitary forces, will be deployed in and around the venue. Senior BJP leaders have already inspected the preparations. 

 Who’s in the Running? 

With the BJP set to name its new leader for Delhi, several prominent figures are being considered: 

- Pravesh Verma – Son of ex-CM Sahib Singh Verma; defeated AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi. 

- Ashish Sood – Delhi BJP general secretary; won from Janakpuri by a margin of 18,000 votes. 

- Rekha Gupta – RSS-affiliated leader; first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh. 

- Vijender Gupta – Veteran leader and former Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly. 

- Satish Upadhyay – Former Delhi BJP chief; defeated AAP’s Somnath Bharti in Malviya Nagar. 

- Jitendra Mahajan – RSS-backed leader; winning MLA from Rohtas Nagar since 2020. 

- Shikha Roy – Scored a major victory over AAP’s Saurabh Bharadwaj in Greater Kailash. 

 BJP May Spring a Surprise 

According to a PTI report, insiders believe the BJP might opt for a fresh face as CM, aligning with the strategy it has used in states like Rajasthan, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. 

With security arrangements finalized and anticipation running high, all eyes are now on who will lead Delhi next. The wait won’t be long—an official announcement is just around the corner.
