Mother of Four Harassed in Hubballi, Nine Detained for Assaulting Accused

Hubballi: Nine individuals have been arrested by Kasabapet police in connection with an alleged assault on a man accused of harassing a married woman. The incident, which unfolded in multiple locations, has led to charges including attempted murder and rioting.

According to police, the victim, an unmarried man, had been persistently harassing a married woman who resides in Jannat Nagar. The woman, a mother of four, had previously reported the harassment to her family. Despite warnings from her family members to desist, the accused continued his behavior, prompting drastic action from the family.

On the day of the incident, the family members reportedly took the accused to a location near Varur, under Hubballi Rural Police Station limits, where they physically assaulted him. Following this, they brought him back to Jannat Nagar, where the assault continued.

The police stated that before the altercation, the accused had also attacked one of the family members when they confronted him about his behavior. A case has been registered against him for this act.
In response to the violent actions by the family, the Kasabapet police have arrested nine individuals under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including charges related to attempted murder and rioting.

Statements from the woman and her family members have been recorded, and further investigations are underway to determine the sequence of events and the roles of those involved. The police are also probing whether the harassment allegations have any additional context.
