Raichur: A group of unidentified individuals broke into the residence of JDS MLA Kareemma G. Naik in Devadurga town. The incident occurred late on the night of January 22 but came to the media's attention on Saturday, sparking widespread concern.
The miscreants, reportedly a group of three, parked their bike a short distance from the house and entered through the back door. Alerted by the commotion, neighbors raised an alarm, forcing the intruders to flee.
MLA Kareemma G. Naik later informed the Devadurga police about the incident, urging them to investigate the motive behind the intrusion, identify the culprits, and take necessary action.
Speaking to the media, the MLA claimed it was not an attempted burglary, as she had no money or valuables in the house, but an alleged attempt to harm her. She further alleged that the miscreants threw some kind of powder into her bedroom, which caused her to oversleep. When she woke up late the next morning, she experienced a severe headache and immediately sought medical attention. Doctors reportedly informed her that her blood pressure was low.
Describing the incident, she said, “The miscreants fled after being noticed by people in the house. I learned about it only in the morning. Three unknown individuals were outside the room where I was sleeping. This is not the first time I have faced such incidents, but this one is serious.”
The incident has raised questions about the security of public representatives. Authorities have assured that an investigation is underway to determine the facts and apprehend the suspects.
