Daily Mail 24 News Desk.

Mangaluru: A gang of 5-6 armed robbers wearing masks stormed the Kotekar Vyavasaya Seva Sahakara Sangha Bank near Mangaluru on Friday, looting gold jewellery and valuables worth Rs 10-12 crore. The incident occurred between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm, while 4-5 employees were present. The robbers, speaking in Hindi, threatened staff with weapons, including a pistol, sword, and knife, forcing them to open the vault.

The gang escaped in a black Fiat car. Police have formed multiple teams and intensified their search using technical surveillance.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, visiting Mangaluru, held an emergency meeting with senior police officials, expressing dissatisfaction over the security lapse. He instructed stringent toll booth checks, blockades across four districts, and swift action to apprehend the culprits.

The robbery follows a similar incident in Bidar, raising concerns over bank security.
