Vulgar Comment Row: Parliamentary Panel May Summon Ranveer Allahbadia

Daily Mail 24 News Desk.

New Delhi: Trouble is mounting for YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia over his remarks on India's Got Latent. While he has apologized, the controversy is escalating.

A Parliamentary panel on information technology is considering summoning him after complaints from several MPs. Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has vowed to raise the issue, questioning the use of abusive language in comedy. FIRs have been registered in Mumbai and Guwahati against Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina, influencer Apoorva Makhija, and others for promoting obscenity. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed legal action against those involved.

Mumbai police are investigating, with Allahbadia and Raina asked to join the probe. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis stressed that freedom of speech has limits. The controversy erupted after a viral clip showed Allahbadia asking a contestant an obscene hypothetical question.

Following backlash, Allahbadia admitted his remarks were inappropriate and apologized, calling it a lapse in judgment. The row has reignited criticism of vulgar content in comedy, with singer B Praak canceling his appearance on Allahbadia’s show. The incident has sparked a wider debate on responsible content creation in digital entertainment.
