In one of the most horrific terror attacks in recent years, heavily armed militants linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba opened fire on a group of tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday. The brutal assault left at least 28 people dead, including several foreign nationals, and dozens more injured.

According to top intelligence sources cited by news outlets, the attack was claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), a known proxy of Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The attackers, dressed in military uniforms, ambushed the group after noon as they were enjoying a visit to the scenic Baisaran Meadows on horseback. The group included women and elderly individuals, making the indiscriminate firing even more chilling.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos and horror as bullets rained down on unsuspecting tourists. Videos from the aftermath showed bloodied bodies lying on the ground, with survivors screaming and frantically searching for loved ones amid the carnage.

In response, Home Minister Amit Shah rushed to Srinagar and chaired a high-level security meeting with top officials from various intelligence and law enforcement agencies. A massive anti-terror operation has since been launched in the region to hunt down the attackers.

Security forces have sealed off the area, and additional personnel have been deployed to prevent any further incidents. The nation reels in shock as questions grow louder over the brazen security lapse in a region that was believed to be under tight surveillance.
