Over 9 Dead as Truck Plunges into Gorge Near Yallapur

Karwar: A tragic accident occurred early Wednesday morning near the Kageri Petrol Pump at Arebail Ghat in Yellapur, Uttara Kannada district. A truck carrying fruits, vegetables, and traders to a market plunged into a gorge, resulting in the death of over 9 people.

The truck, which was transporting around 40 traders and their produce from Savanur in Haveri to Kumta market, met with the accident near Arebail Ghat in Yellapur. Over 9 people are reported to have died on the spot, and the death toll is expected to rise.

The injured have been admitted to Yellapur Taluk Hospital, and the bodies of the deceased have been sent there as well. Police are conducting operations at the accident site and are engaged in rescue efforts for those affected.
