Indian Airports to Offer Pre-Boarding Stretching Exercises: CISF Initiative

Daily Mail 24 News Desk.

Mangaluru: Starting January 3, 2025, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has rolled out a pioneering initiative to enhance the travel experience of passengers flying short and medium-haul routes, particularly on international sectors. This marks the first time a Central Armed Police Force in India has introduced such an exercise program for air travelers.

According to a circular issued by the Special Director-General of CISF, trained personnel will conduct simple yogic stretching exercises for passengers before boarding their flights. These quick, 2-3 minute sessions are designed to reduce muscle stiffness, improve blood circulation, and lower the risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). The initiative also aims to promote relaxation by easing tension in key muscle groups, making it particularly beneficial for long-haul travelers.

The letter addressed to all Chief Aerodrome Security Officers (CASOs), Airport Directors, and Airlines Operators emphasizes the importance of this program. "This initiative will help rejuvenate passengers and improve their overall travel experience," the letter stated.

CISF personnel, trained in yoga, will double as instructors to guide passengers through these stretches. A demonstration video highlighting some of the exercises has been shared to ensure consistency across airports. Based on initial feedback, the program may be extended to include all passengers, regardless of their flight duration.

The CISF believes this initiative will not only boost passenger satisfaction but also improve the ratings of Indian airports in national and international surveys. Media outlets have been requested to spread the word about this unique effort to create awareness among travelers.
