Hubballi: In a case of blatant deception, a father-son pair has been arrested for allegedly cheating a local resident of Rs 61.25 lakh under the guise of securing him a government job and plots through their "influential connections."
The Vidyanagar Police have apprehended Rajendra Shantappa Kokatnur (55) and his son Kartik Rajendra Kokatnur (28) following a complaint by Mithun Laxman Todakar (34), who accused the duo of defrauding him over several months with false promises of employment and land deals.
According to the sources, the accused allegedly befriended Todakar, claiming to have close ties with high-ranking officials and politicians. They convinced him they could secure him a lucrative job and assist in purchasing prime plots. Over time, Todakar transferred a staggering ₹61.25 lakh to the duo in installments, based on their demands.
However, when neither the job nor the plots materialized, Todakar grew suspicious. After repeated excuses and delays from the accused, he approached the Vidyanagar Police Station and filed a formal cheating complaint. The accused have been secured and produced before the court.
