KMCRI Administration Failure: Proxy Attendance Case Exposes Institutional Lapses

Daily Mail 24 News Desk.

Hubballi: The Karnataka Medical College and Research Institute (KMCRI) has taken disciplinary action against five sixth-semester MBBS students for forcing first-year MBBS students to attend a surgery theory class on their behalf. As a consequence, the accused students have been barred from attending classes for one month.

According to reports, the decision was made following an inquiry by the anti-ragging committee. Several doctors who spoke with DailyMail24Online described the incident as a clear case of ragging and urged the institution to implement stricter measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.

A senior doctor suggested that biometric attendance should be introduced to curb such malpractices. Many medical professionals also revealed that similar incidents have happened in the past but were never reported in the media.

Sources claim this case highlights serious administrative lapses at KMCRI. Critics argue that the punishment is inadequate and that the students involved should have been suspended, blacklisted, and reported to the university.

Furthermore, allegations have surfaced that students with less than 75% attendance have been allowed to appear for examinations in the past. This recent case, now in the public eye, is said to be just the tip of the iceberg, signaling the need for a deeper investigation into attendance violations and administrative oversight at the institute.
