New Delhi / Hubballi, Aug 29, 2025: The Union government has cleared the long-awaited direct Hubballi–Jodhpur train service, fulfilling a long-standing demand of residents from North Karnataka and the Marwar region of Rajasthan. The approval came following persistent efforts by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, marking another addition to the list of railway projects Karnataka has received in recent years.
Weekly Service to Begin This September
The new train, numbered 07359, will start operations from September 28 as a weekly special. It will leave Hubballi at 7:30 PM and reach Bhagat Ki Kothi (Jodhpur) at 5:30 AM the next day. Initially scheduled for Sundays, the service will later be reviewed for regular operation.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has assured that, depending on passenger demand, the weekly train will be upgraded to a daily service in the near future.
Advance bookings have already begun, with tickets available for journeys on September 28, October 5, October 12, October 19, and October 26.
Why This Route Matters
For decades, travellers from Hubballi and North Karnataka heading to Rajasthan and beyond faced challenges due to the lack of a direct link. Passengers relied on changing trains at intermediate junctions like Ahmedabad or Pune. The new service is expected to:
Reduce travel time and hassle for passengers.
Improve business and trade connectivity between Karnataka’s commercial hub Hubballi and Rajasthan.
Benefit students, migrant workers, and tourists who frequently travel between the two regions.
Railway enthusiasts note that the train could also serve as a vital link for the North Karnataka diaspora in Rajasthan.
Part of Larger Railway Push in Karnataka
This announcement comes after several big ticket projects, including the Bengaluru–Belagavi Vande Bharat Express, signalling the Centre’s commitment to strengthening Karnataka’s railway infrastructure.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, who has been instrumental in securing these projects, said:
“The Hubballi–Jodhpur train fulfills a decades-old demand of the people of North Karnataka. I am grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for their special interest in improving connectivity for Hubballi and the region.”
Thanks from Hubballi Residents
Local trade bodies and commuters have welcomed the decision, saying the new service will boost both economic activity and cultural exchange. Passengers have already begun booking tickets enthusiastically, seeing this as a festival gift ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi.
