Hubballi: Dharwad district in-charge minister Santosh Lad on Saturday morning visited the BRTS station at Hosur and later travelled up to Dharwad on a Volvo Chigari bus, accompanied by NWKRTC and BRTS officials, after a brief inspection.
The minister had recently held a review meeting with NWKRTC and BRTS officials regarding the repeated breakdowns of Chigari buses, particularly the Volvo UD models, which have been facing persistent technical and operational problems.
One of the key concerns raised was the non-availability of spare parts, which has led to frequent service disruptions. Minister Lad assured officials that he would make every effort to resolve the spare parts shortage at the earliest.
He also inspected several civil infrastructure issues along the dedicated bus lanes that were hampering smooth operations.
NWKRTC Managing Director Priyanga M informed that the corporation had already communicated the matter to Volvo. Following the recent major accident near Vidyagiri, the state government secretary held a meeting with Volvo representatives, who assured that the spare parts supply issue would be resolved by the end of this month.
Priyanga further highlighted that this particular Volvo model has a higher-than-average breakdown rate, but the corporation is making continuous efforts to minimize disruptions and ensure better service reliability.
