Hubballi: The Vidyanagar Police have solved the murder case of an elderly woman who was found dead at her residence in Ambika Nagar, Unkal, on Tuesday night (November 4). The police have arrested her son, Ashok (61), a retired HDMC employee, on charges of murdering her.
A team led by Inspector Jackson D’Souza apprehended the accused on November 5. During interrogation, Ashok reportedly confessed that he was upset with his mother, Ningavva, for giving three tolas of her gold to his sister and planning to gift her a small piece of land. Enraged by this, Ashok allegedly attacked his mother with a stick, striking her on the head multiple times and killing her on the spot.
The accused has been remanded in judicial custody, and further investigation is underway. ACP North Shivaprakash Naik, Inspector Praveen Nilammanavar and others were present.
