Hubballi, Sept 12. Daily Mail Online: The city witnessed a fresh spell of showers on Wednesday, lashing several areas for nearly four hours. After a brief pause over the past few days, the rains returned with renewed intensity. The sky turned dark around 1 p.m., and by 3 p.m., heavy rainfall began, later easing into a steady downpour until about 7 p.m.

The intensity peaked for nearly an hour around 4 p.m. before settling into moderate showers. The rains caused inconvenience to commuters and students returning home, while business activities were also slightly affected.

According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), Hubballi is likely to receive more rain on Thursday and Friday (September 12 and 13). Officials have forecast around 9 mm of rainfall on September 13.

Speaking to Dailymail24, Dr. Ravi Patil, Nodal Scientist of the REWARD-MWAAS Scheme at UAS, Dharwad, said that September had already been forecast to witness surplus rainfall, and the rain activity is likely to intensify over the next week. “Isolated places in the North Karnataka region are expected to receive showers,” he said.

Dr. Patil further noted that the twin cities of Hubballi-Dharwad are likely to start receiving rain by tomorrow afternoon, urging residents to take necessary precautions.
