Kannada Comedy Icon Raju Talikote Passes Away, Theatre Fraternity in Mourning

Vijayapura, Daily Mail 24 Online: Veteran theatre artist and popular comedy actor from North Karnataka, Raju Talikote, passed away today (October 13, 2025) due to a heart attack. Originally from Chikkasindagi village in Sindagi taluk of Vijayapura district, he had been living in Talikote town after gaining fame in films.

He had suffered a heart attack yesterday and was admitted to Manipal AIIMS Hospital. However, despite continuous medical treatment, he did not respond and passed away this evening, according to family sources. The Kannada film industry and the theatre fraternity of North Karnataka are mourning the death of Raju Talikote.

Raju Talikote’s original name was Rajesab Maktumasab Talikote. He was not just an actor but also the owner of the well-known Khasgateshwara Drama Company of Talikote. He spent most of his life entertaining people in the villages of North Karnataka through theatrical performances.

Popular for drunkard roles

Raju Talikote earned immense popularity for playing humorous and message-oriented roles in the North Karnataka dialect, along with traditional attire. In particular, his acting in drunkard characters was very effortless and lively. Kaliyugada Kuduka, Kudukar Samrajya, and Asali Kuduka were some of his famous plays, and the audio cassettes of these dramas were household names across North Karnataka during that time.
