Hubballi, Daily Mail 24 Online: A state-of-the-art healthcare facility dedicated exclusively to women and children is set to be unveiled in the city. Nakshatra Women and Children’s Hospital, an ultra-modern, hi-tech center bringing maternity, neonatal, pediatric, and gynecological care under one roof, will be formally inaugurated on Sunday, October 12 at 11 a.m.
In a unique gesture, the inauguration will be carried out by mothers who conceived through IVF, women who survived high-risk pregnancies, and children born prematurely who are now three to four years old, announced Paediatrician Dr. Veeranna Mudhol while addressing reporters on Saturday.
Dr. Mudhol said the hospital is the first of its kind in the private sector in Hubballi-Dharwad to offer comprehensive services for women and children in a single facility.
- The 45-bed hospital is equipped with:
- Five obstetricians (OBGs)
- Three pediatric specialists
- Two anesthesiologists
- 12 advanced NICU beds
- Six ICU beds
- Two ultra-modern operation theatres
- A dedicated pediatric OT
- Orthopedic and laparoscopic departments
Accommodation facilities include two labour wards, a general ward, spacious semi-special and special wards, and deluxe and semi-deluxe rooms.
Obstetricians Dr. Kaivalya Dipali and Dr. Madhuri Kambar highlighted that the hospital is fully equipped to manage high-risk pregnancies and provide superior care to premature babies. The advanced NICU is designed to handle critically ill newborns without referring them elsewhere. “Our goal is to deliver complete care here itself and eliminate the need for referrals,” they said.
They also emphasized the hospital’s focus on pain-free deliveries to improve the chances of natural births and reduce unnecessary C-sections.
Speaking at the briefing, Dr. Marthandappa D.H. said the integrated model eliminates the need to transfer newborns to separate pediatric facilities, thereby minimizing transportation risks for infants requiring specialist care.
He added that special attention has been given to hygiene and infection control, with the hospital designed to ensure maximum safety for mothers and children.
While the formal inauguration takes place on October 12, outpatient services (OPDs) will commence from October 20.
Also present at the press meet were obstetricians Dr. Rashmi Desai and Dr. Shwetha Vernekar, pediatrician Dr. Sriharsha Badiger, anesthesiologists Dr. Sameer Desai and Dr. Tejas Kulkarni, and other specialists.
