Bengaluru, Sept. 7: Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has nominated four members to the Karnataka Legislative Council (KLC). The nominations were announced through a notification issued on Sunday.
Among the prominent names are F.H. Jakkappanavar, senior Congress and Dalit leader from Hubballi, and K. Shivakumar, veteran journalist from Mysuru associated with The New Indian Express, widely respected for his fearless reporting.
Also nominated is Dr. Arathi Krishna, a social worker from Sringeri Taluk in Chikkamagaluru district. In addition, Ramesh Babu, a resident of Bengaluru, has been nominated to serve the remainder of his predecessor’s term in the Council, which runs until July 21, 2026.
The nominations, made by the Governor in accordance with the Representation of the People Act, 1951, add voices from diverse backgrounds including politics, journalism, and social service to the state’s upper house.
