Four, Including Juvenile, Arrested in Ganesha Immersion Stabbing Incident in Hubballi
Hubballi, Sept. 8 (DailyMail24 Online): The Town Police have arrested four persons, including a juvenile, in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred during a Ganesha idol immersion procession in the city on Saturday night.
The victim, Akash, a transport office manager, was allegedly attacked with multiple stab wounds after he stepped aside from the procession. He was rushed to a private hospital, where he is currently under treatment.
Police have identified the arrested accused as Rakesh Bijawad (26), a resident of Settlement; Shivakumar Dhavaleshwar (24), of Sonia Gandhi Nagar; Shree Gokak (21), of Sonia Gandhi Nagar; and Fakkiresh Doddamani (20), also of Sonia Gandhi Nagar. One more accused is a juvenile.
Speaking to DailyMail24 Online, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mahaning Nandangavi said the incident was not premeditated but occurred following a quarrel. “The accused and the injured were all dancing during the immersion procession when a misstep led to an argument, which escalated into the stabbing,” he explained.
All four accused have been produced before court, while the juvenile has been dealt with as per the Juvenile Justice Act, police said.
