New Delhi: A powerful car blast rocked the national capital on Monday evening, killing eight people and injuring several others, Delhi Police confirmed.
The high-intensity explosion tore through the vehicle, triggering a massive fire that gutted at least 10 to 12 vehicles parked nearby and severely damaged several others.
Police and fire officials rushed to the spot immediately after the blast. Emergency teams rescued the injured and moved them to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Investigators are examining the site to determine the cause of the explosion and whether any explosives were involved. The forensic team and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are expected to join the probe soon.
Authorities have cordoned off the area, and security has been tightened across key locations in Delhi following the incident.
