Asia Cup 2025: Full Schedule, Groups, Format and Key Details
The countdown has begun for the much-awaited Asia Cup 2025. This time, a total of eight nations will be competing for continental glory. The tournament has been divided into two groups of four teams each and will be played in the T20 format, keeping in mind the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
Group Division
Group A: India, Pakistan, Oman, UAE
Group B: Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Hong Kong
Each team will face the other three sides in their respective groups during the first round, which follows a round-robin format. For instance, India will face Pakistan, UAE, and Oman in the opening stage.
Points Table and Qualification
At the end of the first round, the top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 4 stage.
In the Super 4, the four qualified teams will again compete in a round-robin format, facing each other once. There will be no semifinals in this edition. Instead, the top two teams from the Super 4 points table will directly progress to the Final.
Why T20 Format This Year?
The format of the Asia Cup is decided based on the upcoming ICC global tournament.
In 2023, when the ODI World Cup was scheduled in India, the Asia Cup was played in the 50-over format.
With the T20 World Cup scheduled in 2026, the 2025 Asia Cup is being held in the T20 format to help teams prepare better.
This ensures the Asia Cup remains not just a regional contest but also valuable preparation for world events.

Why This Tournament Matters
The Asia Cup has always been a high-stakes contest for Asian cricketing giants and emerging teams alike. For Afghanistan, Oman, UAE, and Hong Kong, it is a platform to prove themselves against world-class opposition.
With the T20 World Cup less than a year away, performances in the Asia Cup will serve as a crucial test of form, squad balance, and strategies.
